Puget Sound Energy offers rebates to homeowners for a variety of energy efficiency improvements. We're talking real money back on projects you might already be planning or just had done.

What PSE Covers

This came up recently with clients of ours — Jerry and Kathy — who did full overhauls of both their attic and their crawl space. They got significant rebates back from PSE just by applying after the work was done.

When This Comes Up in Real Estate

This matters in a few common scenarios.

As a seller: If you've had inspection items that require replacing insulation — which happens more than you'd think when rodents get into attics or crawl spaces — the cleanup and remediation work might qualify for PSE rebates. That helps offset the cost and can be framed positively in your disclosures.

As a buyer: If you're taking on a home that needs insulation work, factor in the PSE rebate when calculating your true out-of-pocket cost. It changes the math.

How to Apply

Go to the PSE website and look for their rebate center. The application process is straightforward — you typically submit after the work is completed and inspected. Make sure your contractor is aware you're applying, as they'll need to provide some documentation.

It's one of those things that takes 15 minutes to look into and can save you hundreds to thousands of dollars. Worth the look.
